Spring Rain Across Leaves

spring rain blown across
the backs of young leaves fall and
awaken new buds

lone candle flickers
on mountain top in silence
within this monk’s mind

mayfly hatches from
still river summer breeze glides
past as she shelters

last snow melts sun peeks
a host of sparrows announce
a hopeful blue sky
